Yesterday was a cold, rainy, foggy, chilly day outside. But inside, I was getting things done. Mostly in terms of being able to publish content. Caught up on things that allowed me to do that that I had neglected throughout the week. Doing more editing and publishing more frequently will mean a bit more work throughout the week but that does mean my Sundays will open up a bit more. I actually think it'll overall take the same amount of time or even less with doing things gradually rather than batching them on one day b/c many of the tasks are menial and mindless. Batching helps when the start up time / activation energy is higher, but since for these tasks they're the same as when doing them individually on each day, it'll equate to the same amount of time spent over the course of the week. I actually think by batching them each day with my startup and wind down daily routines I can potentially save more time & be more productive & creative with my Sundays - prime time for deep work. Anyways, this is all theory so let's see how it works in practice.
Personally, I like where the newsletter is now headed with a weekly review that I normally do anyways. It's starting to become actual content instead of just a compilation of links. I will want to publish these newsletters publicly too at some point so that people who subscribe later can see what they're signing up for as well as the progression of it since its inception. I imagine I'll make those changes to the website in 2-3 weeks after I've completed several other projects first. Planning to complete everything related to fantasy football this week so I can put that behind me and focus on other things by clearing up that mind, digital, and project space.
Also saw the recent video from August Bradley on time blocking in Notion. It was pretty insightful to see how he does it when his whole day is blocked out. I'm not sure I need it yet b/c I've been ok in terms of mentally time blocking during the work day. I don't think it would hurt but if I feel like I'm lagging big time on something, I'll start doing it.
Finished up Thinking in Bets. Gave it a solid 4 stars. Many useful frame of minds to recall when in different situations. Biases and assumptions are everywhere and in everything that we do. It was the perfect book at the perfect time with the right author b/c of her background in poker and approaching things probabilistically. Her tactics that mostly she's compiled from other places herself can be valuable whether making financial decisions, recognizing situations of bias internally and externally, or viewing my past, current, and future selves to make the decision with the best possible expected value and live with the result.
Good day yesterday - let's continue the momentum this week!
