Bingpot! | 2/5/21

Got 4.5 hours of sleep yesterday & felt fresh throughout the whole day. Lots of meetings - tried out my Google Pixel Buds for those meetings and they worked pretty well.

Had 2U happy hour bingo. 4 games, 4 prizes. Wasn't close on the 1st game - it was a Chik-Fil-A gift card anyways so didn't really need it. Then 2nd game I was a bit closer but still didn't get the prize. Now the 3rd game, I was rolling (it was 4 corners), so as much rolling as you can for 4 spots. But Tripp & I won at the same time. As is customary now, I yelled out "Bingpot!" a la Brooklyn 99. He initially wanted to do Rock, Paper, Scissors but I was like "Nah it's happy hour, everyone should win." So it was kinda unsettled. We then did the 4th game with the "+" sign. I was actually only 1 away as was Dan but Heather ended up coming in & snatching the victory. While they were confirming her win, I had a change of heart and was like, screw it, I'm down to RPS for the $50 gift card. We decided that we'd turn off our cameras & then on "shoot" we'd turn it back on with our choice. First round was a misfire with Caroline interjecting something. Actual first round, guess we were playing several moves ahead in chess there b/c usually ppl throw up a rock first. But knowing Tripp & his bag of tricks, I'd figured he'd know that & select paper to cover rock, so then I chose scissors. When we revealed, we both had scissors. AHH! Round 2. The safe option from my side here was rock since now a player could throw a rock & we'd tie or he'd stick with scissors (his 1st throw), in which case I'd beat him. "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" *turn on camera* We both had rocks!! Guess he was thinking the same thing. Now Round 3. Stakes were increasing for this $50 Amazon gift card. Now in my mind,. as we both had thrown 2 different items in the both the rounds, my guess was Tripp was going to keep the rock this time. I didn't see him going back to scissors. I could also see him playing paper as the one that we hadn't thrown yet. So my safest option here was paper. "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" *turn on camera* I have paper. He had...rock. Victory was mine! All those countless hours growing up playing RPS to decide menial things at school had prepared me for this moment. When the lights, the brightest. The stage the biggest. The stakes the highest. $50 on Amazon was mine.

So obviously this is 100% hindsight bias & self-serving bias. Didn't really think for the 1st 2 throws, but did actually think that he was gonna throw rock for the last one so I chose paper strategically for the win. Game theory at its finest. Don't let some biases get in the way of a good story lol.

Then went on a 4.6 mile run again. Thought I ran faster than I actually did but still only a 8:45 pace. Proud of my ~200 yd sprint at the end. If there's more daylight next time, I'll do actual sprints as a burner.

Then finished up the night playing games on Gather or whatever it's called at the invitation of Sathya. It was fine. Chilled there for an hour w/on and off mic and then peaced out. Pragya was there so we ended up chatting for a bit, mainly about sleep. Yo - when you read this hopefully you woke up as early as you wanted to!

After that , just took the night easy.
