Brain dump prompt from CLT Writer’s Club Write-In Zoom meeting. [Including Prompt pictures above my journal pictures so you see what I saw]
Amazing convos last couple days with Rashmili and Keith. Different but similar. People who get it. Hmm, should I update my offer again? 1x1 or cohort for the biz? Idt there’s a wrong answer. The only answer is to do. Stop theorizing. Provide value to 1 person is 1 thing that Keith said. Stuff will change anyways. Reaching out and connecting with people with the podcasts is a way for me to show value myself, not simply ask questions. Oh also Kyle King reached out. I was initially anxious of where I would get guests from but it’s naturally happened with ease. Probably have too many at this point lol. Looking forward to connecting with him more and his course / offers. Value add vs friction reduction with relationships. Balance lame with crazy stories.
Prompt 1
The lady and the gentleman were lounging in the room. They had taken their vacation together. The first one that they took together as a couple. They’ve been together for 5 months now. They wanted to balance the activities in the city with the relaxation of being along with each other. The man started playing the piano after they got back out of their travel clothes and into their comfortable clothes. He started playing relaxing music, classical music from the great European composers. They unwound with the ease and grace that that music set the mood for. He then transitioned seamlessly to some jazz music befitting of the room and the city. She took a seat next to him as he continued playing majestically She leaned her head on his shoulder and went into a soft trance. He even closed his eyes as he continued on. Of course he could easily play everything with his eyes closed. He gave her a quick peck on the forehead. Even though they’d only been together for 5 months, they could both feel they’d be together forever. This was just month 5 of a lifelong journey.
Prompt 2
Elis’ grandfather had been buried at this cemetery for the past 10 years. Elias was his name. The name sake of Eli. Eli had known his grandpa for 8 of his years. He now makes a visit every year to visit his grandpa’s spot. Giving flowers. Saying a few words out loud. “I didn’t know you for too long but it was just long enough. Thank you for sharing everything that you have. I can feel you looking over me whenever I’m making any important decision. And it feels comforting. In a way it’s almost more comforting this way since I know I just have to think of you and you’ll be there with me.” Eli had seen Elias not deteriorate as many other older people feel as they get older, but he saw his strength increase. And not just physical strength. But mental, emotional, spiritual health as well. Elias was always being a better person. For himself. For others. That was one of the reasons Eli had adored his grandfather. Admired him. There was a timelessness, an agelessness to his wisdom. Wisdom not dictated by his age, but by the simple lived experience of getting better, being better every moment of his life. Eli didn’t think of all this while Elias was alive, but had these insights come to him over time as he reflected on his memories. It was quite a feeling with these memories. They seemed to unlock in a perfect, symmetrical sort of way. Almost as if Elias had been turning the key to unlock them at precisely the right time.
Prompt 3
John and Alice! Celebrating life! Forever together. But all that matters is now! Who cares about tomorrow? Let along forever years from now. I’d known John since middle school from Austin, TX. They started dating in college where they met at LSU. Alice’s family is from New Orleans, so the wedding was there. So as many family members could make it to join in on all of the festivities. Our friends from LSU attended. We hadn’t seen each other since graduating a couple years back. It’s crazy how weddings bring everyone together. We always knew John and Alice would celebrate their wedding together when they were dating in college. There was just too much chemistry, romance, and balance when they were together. I had a front row seat for the 1st 2 years of their relationship, having roomed with John. Alice would stop by a few times a week. Alice and I actually connected on a deep level, even without John there. We’d get coffee every now and then and talk like we’d known each other our entire lives. I knew that John was extremely lucky. Getting the whole crew back together. To relive the old days at LSU. But we were all making new memories here. And the first of many as husband and wife for Alice & John.
Prompt 4
Outlook over the river
The bridge in the distance
Could I ever forgive her?
For this one instance
What was the matter, you ask?
Should it even be named?
Hiding behind her mask
So not to be defamed
There was a calmness in the water
No rash decisions to be made
Learned lessons from my father
Let the waves and ripples fade
