Don't Scratch Your Itch | 3/13/21

Made a lot of progress on my website. So I'm actually done with all the resources that I wanted to share. Some time of mundane work to get it all correct but ready to link out to those Notion databases.

I like how motivated I am to get this project across the finish line. Definitely can make it happen that I release it publicly / switch over the domain to it by Sunday. Just need to get mobile done and then a few small things to clean it up & I should be all set.

Tried the parachute in my fitness training kit that came in the mail yesterday. It doesn't seem to be getting as high as I would like it to be but let's see. I may just be too slow lol.

Another random thought while meditating yesterday. I was rereading the Book Vault notes and went through the Diamond Cutter notes. 2 of the categorical principles were that causes come before their results and that causes are smaller than their results. With those in place, we can understand a potential cause of why we get irritated or annoyed by the big things in life. It may seem justified in that moment but that big thing (like my car getting stolen, which itself is a result) can be reacted to in different ways. Reacting negatively to that big event is the result of reacting negatively to a prior small event, which itself is the cause of something. The body is a good signpost of how you are mentally. If you are mentally at ease, then your body will be physically at ease. If you are not at ease mentally, then your body will be in dis-ease. So my conjecture is that every time you get an itch on your body, it was the result of an event that happened previously in your life. Now what you decide to do with the itch is the most important thing here. If you scratch that itch, then you are acknowledging that that 'thing' surfaced / happened and you're inherently slightly annoyed by it b/c you want to get rid of it by scratching it. BUT, what if we don't do anything? What if we recognize it's there, acknowledge it, but just let it pass? "I see you, I acknowledge you. I will deal with you later." That small intentional act of not reacting negatively to an event that happens externally to our body will be the cause of something else - another (bigger) event that happens externally, but something to which we don't react with negativity, annoyance, irritation, or judgment. Instead, we react to that event with acceptance, positivity, non-judgment, gratitude. So essentially, don't scratch your itch - acknowledge it and just let it pass by. You'll see that you have 9+less of a negative reason to other things in life.
