Farther Away to Go Further Inside | 4/18/21

Currently writing this on a beautiful, perfect Saturday early evening at the Francis Beatty Park, looking out into the lake. Just did some Tai Chi here and actually recorded it this time with the 3 main things that I know. I'm addicted to nature now lol. I can't get enough of spending time outdoors now, just connecting with.

I think one of the main catalysts subconsciously was when I was leaving Atlanta to move to Charlotte. Only that last weekend had I explored some of the beautiful outdoor places of Northern Georgia. We can get complacent and comfortable when we live in a certain place b/c we think that option will always be there. So we don't seek out the things that are closest to us. We're always looking to travel to the other side of the country or the world when beauty is right in our backyard! I didn't want to have an opportunity to fully explore Charlotte pass by like it did in Atlanta. There's so many spots within 30 min of the city and even infinitely more with an expanded radius of 2-3 hours. I'll take my time by exploring and discovering while at ease. But going back to the point about the allure and grandeur of learning about the world and the universe through external exploration. That can be of much use, undoubtedly, but if you don't learn about yourself in that process, then it's a missed opportunity. I want to take advantage of going farther and farther away (external exploration) to go further and further inside. That was kind of the reason why I valued doing the Quarterly Circle in a remote place so I can learn more about myself. I value learning about worldly subjects, but if it doesn't help me learn about myself or about my mission, it's deprioritized. And the same kinda applies to others. If they're not interested in self-growth, self-improvement and seeking the bigger questions of life, then I just make a mental note. Nothing wrong with that but if I have the choice of being intentional with my social circles, I prefer to befriend people who share some of those same values.
