How do I spontaneously do something that's planned? Planned spontaneity. People only think about with play, with pleasure, with vacation. But how do we transfer that to our working life? I may have a bunch of competing priorities but dedicating time to do 'light' or 'medium' or 'deep work done can allow me that time to individually tackle those tacks. Outside of work I spend almost every day now either going to a park or coffee shop to create energy. Idk exactly what I'm going to do but by changing my environment, I know I will do something beneficial for me. Getting out of the apartment has become a habit now after I come back from work. I've now started to not only associate these environments with energy-creating activities but the time frame as well. I'll spend that energy doing these things instead of allowing myself to fall into the trap of being lethargic at home, a place where I associate laziness with.
What about with content? With the podcast, I have a general outline of what I want to follow but not the exact questions set out at the beginning. That planned time be spontaneous.
It's like the what and the how. By setting aside time to be creative, I know that I can be creative, but how that creativity will manifest is to be determined. So that's simple enough on the individual level. But how do you scale that up to a business level? Almost by definition in an organization you can't have spontaneity. On a daily level, you need to know what your plan is for the day; how you're going to accomplish your goals, projects, milestones. Within each milestone though and each task even you have the ability to be spontaneous. The task at hand is the planned portion, the what. But how you're going to accomplish that task is yet to be determined, the spontaneity. So the spontaneity within a plan is possible on the micro scale. What about the macro scale? I say yes. The what is that you're going to have a planning session for the quarter, for example. The how is yet to be determined of how you'll be spontaneous. What will be the outcome of the spontaneity. If it's possible on both the micro and macro scales, then they must somehow be linked. The what first exists. The plan is the what, the spontaneity is the how. When you keep going with the how, there are more 'what's. Those in turn become more 'how's. So it's a never-ending cycle of 'what's and 'how's. Of planning and spontaneity.
The key is to have proper balance between the two as defined by yourself. When that exists, you naturally plan to be spontaneous and spontaneously create a plan. An excellent equilibrium.
The thing is I have so many topics in my content pipeline that I want to write about. But what I've found is if I just start with one topic, I'll invariably knock out a second or third topic anyways. Creating connections naturally between my post ideas. Seeing the topics is almost like a previous version of version of me knowing I was going to be journaling about it. And connecting different ideas. And when the time is right, I'll delve deeper into it. Past me planning for the spontaneous future me.
