How Does Creativity Happen? | 5/26/21

Creativity. What is it? How do I build more of it into my life? People are not born creative or uncreative. As with most things, it's through intentional practice that creativity is invited into your mind with less and less friction. It's an awareness of experiences. Back to Entelechy. Everything has potential. We may just not have realized it yet, in both senses of the word. If I can be perceptive to the smallest of details, I'll have a deeper understanding of that thing or person. That will then allow me to make connections to the smallest of details in a separate matter, which is the spark that creativity thrives in.

I've found that 60-120 minutes is usually the sweet spot for my mind and body to get into the flow of generating ideas, thoughts, and questions. I'm relaxed enough without any outside interference to go deeper within. To wrestle with ideas in my mind and out loud. To go down rabbit holes, thought experiments, philosophical conjectures and musings, and pragmatic improvements. A space where I can laugh as loud as I want so that I can make fun of myself for coming up with a revolutionary idea or the dumbest thought ever to have existed in the Universe. A space where I can cry because of the emotional nature of the topics or memories. A space where I have an unlimited amount of things to view, but none of which distract me from having that inner view. That's where creativity exists.

Idk if this is healthy lol but sometimes I judge my creativity and originality. I'll see exactly how original it is by Googling it. If there aren't (m)any results for what I'm pondering, then either it exists and I'm not searching it accurately or it hasn't been created or named or thought of before. There have been a few things that there were very limited results for and that's part of the reason why I picked those names and in some cases bought domains for.

It's in these spaces that I have my idea blitzes: a rush of ideas in the span of 30 min - 1 hour that I quickly note that I want to delve into deeper in some manner.
