Damn, guess I've skipped journaling last 2 Saturdays, so let's not make that a pattern going forward.
After work, Friday was not good. At all. Kept letting my mind get taken over. That continued into Saturday morning before my Tai Chi class. Once I go there though, I'd made up my mind that dating apps for the time being were being a distraction. They weren't helping me get to a better place mentally or emotionally, so I deleted those & anything related to them from my phone. Felt so freeing! A huge burden / rock off my shoulders. I'd wanted to get back into vocab as well so every time I get some thought that I might've had related to those apps, I'm going to jump to my Quizlet vocab instead and start reviewing the words. I've known that replacing a bad habit with a good habit is a great way to rewire the brain, but I'd never done it explicitly. So it's good to finally experience that. To help w/that retraining, the trigger & the reward must be the same (bodily urge thoughts & feeling good / satisfied afterwards) but the action must be the good habit instead of the one you're trying to replace. Hope this can continue.
Then cooked food, watched Bill Maher & then looked up beds for a couple of hours for home. Then had the fam discussion. Nothing major from there; things are moving faster in an upward direction. I did pose more questions to everyone & provided some suggestions so let's see if there's results from that by the next time. I am sometimes coming across as the self-righteous know-it-all mediator so I need to keep that in check for future discussions.
Worked out after that, did viz med & then light dinner while listening to Thinking in Bets. I should hopefully be finishing that up this coming week. Played Among Us for a few hours & then finished up the night reading & finishing the speech book. Lol at the fact that they're talking about overhead projections since it was written in 2000ish.
When a speaker is being introduced, is it better to make it non-attributable like what Better Conversations suggested in the scope of feedback? You're distinguishing the person & the action (identity vs behavior.) "X is a smart, kind, genuine person" vs "My interactions with X have shown me his compassion, authenticity. For example,..." or "I've seen X's amiability in action when we were at this event last year..." I haven't been put in this type of situation much but for introductions it could be useful. And of course with in the context of feedback, I'll definitely be aware of this.
Also, let's go Chiefs!! Get that dub. Imma pig out & get some pizza today so hopefully it's celebratory pizza vs consoling pizza.
