Continuing this a few days later.
Maybe the values that we have as individuals are all proxies for “actual” values. Those Universal Values. “Big V Values.”
There actually aren’t any words to fully describe how we feel when we embody the Universal values. All the human values are just subsets of the Universal values.
What are the Universal values? I can’t characterize them. They’re just inherently there.
Like human values, we have to try to reach them. “Let’s aim to live a life full of peace and truth.” Whereas I’m living and embodying the Universal values just by being alive. Being. Consciousness. Maybe these are closer depictions to what they actually are. Perhaps Karma.
The thing is we also have individual values, whether we know it or not. I think the question is are we intentionally choosing whichever values we want to live by. The actual values we choose don’t matter. They are just what resonate the most with us. The process of intending our values is the most important part. It’s that we have values. Once we do that, we will be closer to living by them naturally. Because of awareness. Human values are just the finite to the Universal values’ infinite.
So why the original question then of “why do I want to act with human values in everything I do?” Because I can, already am, and have no choice but to. Because I know I am.
