Why are we always trying to fight against something? Trying to prove people wrong? Trying to find balance or purpose or happiness? Why are there so many hard things in life?
I realize these words do me no help. Everything is just as it should be. I empathize with people who see one event as frustrating and are trying to find solutions for a problem. But it's just comical sometimes to see people upset. It's like they're drinking poison. Of course the poison may not have any immediate impact, but eventually it adds up. Like if only they knew what the life long implication of getting angry or upset was. The thing is you can never really prove it, so there will always be a subgroup of people who may never believe something that can't be seen.
Saying things like "I am indefatigable" while I'm working out actually changes the level of tiredness that I actually feel. Hmm these are more words that are in our vocab that I would like to remove from my vocabulary. "Tired" and "problem-solving." Even thathayya would always say "The one word I never want to hear you say is 'forget'". I think he may have known a deeper reason for why that is. Tired on one level is a physical state, but it also has a certain connotation and feeling associated with it. When I think I'm tired while working out or at night, I actually feel myself getting even more so. I will replace that in the future from now on with "I need rest" if it's at the end of the day or even during the middle of the day. If I'm working out, "I am indefatigable" or "I am strong." I can add it an adjective in front of rest to indicate if I need physical rest, mental rest, emotional rest, or spiritual rest. Even right now. I crossed out 'in the future' since that has a connotation of doing it 'one day'. Instead of taking ownership by doing it from today onwards.
I will write a book one day that has words to use in our vocabulary and words to remove from our vocab. Maybe I can add a section like that to my course.
Now to problem-solving. I use this myself. It implies there are problems out there, things that exist that should not be there. Yes, there are many issues out there that cause great harm to others. And they are there for a reason. Specifically, 2 reasons. One as a function of the past. And one as a function of the future. The past is simply karma. It's a natural progression of events due to previous thoughts, words, and deeds. The future one is there because it's an opportunity for us to progress our karma. Ex: pollution exists because 1) our thoughts, words, and deeds have become polluted AND 2) as a means for society to come together. The first one answers the why from the past; the second one answers the why from the future. The moment we frame it as a problem, we subconsciously think of it as 'fighting against something.' When we view it as an opportunity, the situation's full potential has the ability to be realized. We are able to blend with it.
Gaining insight into martial arts recently through theory and practice, I can attest that balance is all about being able to blend with every other energy in contact with me. Vishen would always say (and also stated in Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs) "bending reality." Yes, we are not only bending reality. We are blending energy. I am a master energy blender. We can all become master energy blenders. When we frame it as blending with it, we accept that it happened and allow it to simply be. Then we (not fixed) but rediscover why it happened. Then it'll be easy to take the necessary steps to use it to our advantage (aka state of energy blending mastery).
