Why do I believe that a company hiring me should be their best decision ever? I think every company should believe that every employee makes a valuable contribution. Let’s be honest, some people are just there, mainly in larger companies, to just fill seats and have a title. To be there for a year or two, then find another job, then do the same thing and keep bouncing around.
Now if the person is happy with that, then more power to them. But if they keep going from one to the next, hoping that the next place will give them more happiness because of more money or a higher position or better LinkedIn resume for their next job, then they’re going to be ‘searching for happiness’ for a while.
Me in my position now as someone who’s not on the Leadership Team is a valuable vantage point to have. I have to think both very tactically and granularly about my initiatives while thinking 30,000 feet high with where LaundroLab Marketing & Branding as a whole are heading and where they can be in 5 years. Having a ‘fullstack’ perspective of that is going to be immensely valuable because when the Co-Founders and other leaders of the company are focused on higher level things, I can help connect the gaps.
I guess I still haven’t answered the question though lol. I think it comes to me not feeling valued enough at Capgemini. If I, or anyone, feels like they’re just a cog in a wheel, then no matter how much effort I put in, the results may not show. At a project at Cap, the revenue will still be there. So it’s hard to feel like you’re making an impact. So if people can feel like they’re making an impact on the company and ultimately, people’s lives, then the company being a vehicle for the person’s growth is worthwhile.
So here the employee doesn’t serve the company. The company serves the employee (in addition to the customer).
Let’s flip the thinking that we do things for our employer. All the employers exist for us to grow as human beings. They serve us.
So why do I believe that a company hiring me should be their best decision ever?
To make every employee feel accepted, valued, and to realize that companies are there for our growth.
